The Truth About the Refugees: Israel Palestinian Conflict

Excellent video from Danny Ayalon, Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, explaining the cause and reasons for the continuation of the Palestinian refugee problem.

The other two videos he mentioned at the start are after the jump.

Hillary Asks World “To Put Pressure On” Israelis & Palestinians To Return To Negotiations

Story can be found here.

Maybe I’m a pessimist, but I honestly think the motivation on the part of the U.S. to have negotiations work between these two parties is so that whatever administration is running things can claim to have brought peace in the Middle East. (W. wanted a Palestinian state negotiated into existence by the end of 2008. Anyone wondering why?)

However, the problem is that a two-state solution won’t work. While I’m not sure what will, I suspect radio host Yishai Fleisher might be on the right track:

Stating The Obvious: Israel Concerned About Egypt

“We are already facing Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza and the prospect of, God forbid, an autocratic, fundamentalist, Islamic organisation taking over in Egypt is obviously not something we can ignore.” – Former Israeli UN ambassador Dan Gillerman

Full article is here.

Israel has a lot riding on the outcome in Egypt, as the current Egyptian regime has helped blockade Gaza. So, in addition to the fear of a radical Islamist government taking charge in the south, Israel has to worry that government would strengthen current enemies. Israel could be facing war on all fronts.

The article I quoted also says:

Other Arab countries could follow suit. Jordan is one obvious place to look next.

There have already been protests there against the rule of King Abdullah.

Now, it could be “much ado about nothing,” or we could be looking at a domino effect that would end with the toppling of most, if not all, of the moderate rulers in the Middle East.

Interesting times, indeed.

Hezbollah Overjoyed By Fire

Not shocking, to say the least.

However, this quote gets me:

“The PR damage in the world is huge; Israel is perceived as fully incompetent,” one source said.

How many countries have to worry about PR when fighting a wildfire? In addition, I’m pretty sure we’ll see terrorists setting large parts of the Israeli countryside on fire in the next few months.

Prager University: The Middle East Problem

I have to be honest. While I’m a big fan of Dennis Prager, I’ve never once watched a Prager University video. This one I found over at One Jerusalem, decided to check it out, then decided to share. Good stuff from Mr. Prager!

Palestinian Report: Western Wall Not Jewish

Yep, this claim again.

Archaeological discoveries in the old city of Jerusalem and throughout Israel prove a Jewish presence in the land dating back a few thousand years. However, this type of proclamation seems to show up every few years as a way of “proving” the Jewish people don’t belong in the Middle East. Who needs facts when hate is on your side?

British Politician: “Israel Is The Root Cause Of Terrorism”

Jerusalem Post has the story. This part, in particular, bugs me:

“The treatment of Palestinians by Israel is held up as an example of how the West treats Muslims,” she said, “and is at the root cause of terrorism worldwide.”

Seriously? Israel is the bad guy in this situation? They’re mistreating the Palestinians? Seriously?

Clinton Announces More U.S. Aid To Palestinian Authority

In addition to hurting Americans, as we’re giving away money we simply don’t have, we’re giving money to a group that opposes the very existence of our #1 ally, and forcing Israel to accept a peace plan that just won’t work:

“It is important that we do everything we can at a particularly sensitive time in the region to try to redouble our efforts to achieve a two-state solution [to Israeli-Palestinian tensions], to help stabilize the situation in Sudan, and to work to ensure that the people of Lebanon can have accountability in the search for justice,” said Hillary Clinton.

Will the U.S. ever accept that the PA and all of Israel’s enemies don’t want a Jewish state in that region? A two-state solution will not work, but far too many politicians are in denial about that fact.
